i hate it when people who should know better (for example, people who can read my name on Linked In), send me an email that's says "Hi, Patti".

It's Patty with a Y you nimrod. Not an "i" or god-forbid an "ie". And it's RIGHT THERE ON THE PAGE YOU MORON!

This is from someone who wants me to refer them for a job.

How about this you idiot. Spelled N-O.

(not, that I have anything against the Patty with an 'i" variety. I just hate when people don't spell MY name right.

I'm in such a pissy mood today. This felt more appropriate for LJ than Vox.

Arghghghghghghgh..................

I bet I get it the opposite way about ten times more often than you do, since Patty is the more common spelling. I get Pattie from time to time as well.

My standard comeback is to respond with a clear misspelling of their name. "Dear Larri: thank you for asking..." Most of the time they get it, but sometimes that goes right over their heads.

I am sooo going to do the retaliatory misspelling next time.

So...
...then Patti with a heart instead of a dot above the "i" is right out?

Darn, and you sooo seemed like a Patti<3

I get that to an extent, too. I am Denise if you are using my full name and D if you are using the name I mostly go by with friends. Not Dee. I SIGNED IT LIKE THAT RIGHT THERE IN THE EMAIL YOU ARE REPLYING TO.

You think that's bad? My own father misspelled my name in concrete outside of my parents' home. He had been filling concrete out by the sidewalk, and thought it would be nice to add the handprints of my sister and me. (It was a really nice thought, I have to say.) Now it's misspelled forever!

i can totally relate
"i hate it when people who should know better (for example, people who can read my name.....And it's RIGHT THERE ON THE PAGE YOU MORON!"

*coughcough*ahem*coughcough*
At least you spell my name correctly now :)

My name was wrong on my electric bill - even though I spelled it out for them letter by letter over the phone. When I emailed them about it, they fixed the spelling of my last name, but my first name is still wrong on every bill. Does that exempt me from having to pay for it? *g*
