On Vox: California Stars

WIth a very little stretch of my imagination, this song can be added to past posts tagged synchronicity, but I'm mostly adding it here now because Wilco played "California Stars" during one of the two encores on a beautiful night last night and this morning I'm downloading some of my favorite songs from last night to keep save them to my memory archive (which is now known as Vox).

This is a live version from 1998 at Farm Aid, but it conjures up last night and another evening about a month ago when I dozed peacefully, happily, hopefully under the California stars in the backyard of the new house.

California Stars - Wilco

I'd like to rest my heavy head tonight
On a bed of California stars
I'd like to lay my weary bones tonight
On a bed of California stars

I'd love to feel
Your hand touching mine
And tell me why
I must keep working on

Yes I'd give my life
To lay my head tonight on a bed
Of California stars

I'd like to dream
My troubles all away
On a bed of California stars

Jump up from my starbed
Make another day
Underneath my California stars
They hang like grapes
On vines that shine
And warm the lovers' glass
Like friendly wine

So I'd give this world
Just to dream a dream with you
On our bed of California stars

I'd like to rest my heavy head tonight
On a bed of California stars
I'd like to lay my weary bones tonight
On a bed of California stars

I'd love to feel
Your hand touching mine
And tell me why
I must keep working on

Yes I'd give my life
To lay my head tonight on a bed
Of California stars

I'd like to dream
My troubles all away
On a bed of California stars

Jump up from my starbed
Make another day
Underneath my California stars

They hang like grapes
On vines that shine
And warm the lovers' glass
Like friendly wine

So I'd give this world
Just to dream a dream with you
On our bed of California stars

So I'd give this world
Just to dream a dream with you
On our bed of California stars

(Dream a dream with you)
